How to Prevent Your Bed From Moving

Written by Land of Sleep | January 08, 2019

A moving bed is no fun. Especially when that bed is sliding across a wooden floor, making marks in the finish and potentially gouging into the wood. When you can't prevent your bed from moving, the recurrence of these marks and gouges may require you to refinish the floor. And that is a highly expensive fix for damages that are fairly easy to prevent.

Here's a quick look at some quick tips and quality products that can all help prevent your bed from moving:

Place your bed in the corner of the room
This age old solution of re-positioning can help reduce how much your bed moves. Putting it into the corner allows the walls to cushion the pressure caused by you getting in and out of bed and decrease the overall amount the bed moves. Remember to lock wheels in place if available.

Use rubber furniture cups underneath bed legs
Putting your bed in the corner isn't often realistic. If you'd rather have your bed centralized, then you'll want to use rubber furniture cups to prevent your bed from moving. These cups are largely one size fits all and can be easily installed by having one person lifting the bed while another person puts the cups underneath the legs. They should be laid so they are perpendicular to the direction the bed most often moves. Once installed, set any brakes on to lock wheels in place.

Buy a Knickerbocker Bed Frame
While the above two solutions to prevent your bed from moving will help with reducing the amount your bed rocks back and forth, they won't help too much with the squeaky noise of conventional metal frames. The new Knickerbocker advanced bed support systems are designed to go that extra step to eliminate all of the squeaking and rattling noises in addition to bed movement. In particular, the emBrace was designed with an advanced polymer resin that absorbs contact pressure to prevent your bed from moving while simultaneously acting as a complete sound muffler.
